What is a Good Response Rate For Direct Mail Marketing?


One of the most frequently asked questions direct marketing yourself, “What is a good response rate?” Or: “What should be my answer?” The response rate is the number of answers by the number of parts sent, expressed as a percentage. If you 100 postcards and send 10 people to buy products or respond, there is a 10% response.

So what is a good return rate? Is it 2%, which is often what you hear to town? 5%? 10%?

It’s actually all of these … and none of them.

The answer is only part of the picture, a piece of a puzzle that is when they fully assembled your marketing program. The rate indicates how many people’s reactions. For simplicity, we assume for our example, the respondents also turnover.

Looking at our example above, it is assumed that 100 direct mail sent from A Widget for her wonderful, direct mailings were sent and 100 were by Company B for their Wonderful gadget. Now compare the complete financial history of direct marketing, at the same rate of return. You’ll see why the response rate is only part of the story, after I their numbers. Let us assume that the “cost” of wholesale costs for each item and the cost of the piece of marketing, postage, shipping, call centers, includes, etc.

Work consistently to achieve your goals every day, every week and every month until your short-term. When you reach your short-term, put a little more each time. Ultimately, you reach to achieve your long-term goals. The objective is a must in all areas of life.
